Ancient Roots
The Phoenicians were a remarkable seafaring civilization originating along the eastern Mediterranean coast — in what is now Lebanon, Syria, and the surrounding region. Master traders and navigators, they sailed throughout the known world, establishing colonies as far as North Africa and the Iberian Peninsula.
They gave humanity one of its greatest gifts: the phonetic alphabet — the ancestor of nearly every modern writing system. Their legacy lives on in the people, culture, food, and spirit that our club proudly carries forward.

Community Impact
The Phoenician Club of Chicago has a proud tradition of giving back. From humanitarian aid to cultural education, we work tirelessly to support our community. The Phoenician alphabet — one of humanity's greatest inventions — is a reminder of the enduring legacy we carry and the responsibility we have to pass it on.
Our members volunteer across committees dedicated to education, outreach, cultural events, and youth development. We are always looking for passionate individuals to join us.
