Who Are the Phoenicians?

The Phoenicians were a remarkable seafaring civilization originating along the eastern Mediterranean coast — in what is now Lebanon, Syria, and the surrounding region. Master traders and navigators, they sailed throughout the known world, establishing colonies as far as North Africa and the Iberian Peninsula.

They gave humanity one of its greatest gifts: the phonetic alphabet — the ancestor of nearly every modern writing system. Their legacy lives on in the people, culture, food, and spirit that our club proudly carries forward.
